    Y-Care CSR Newsletter - 2nd Issue

By working with business through various channels over the years, Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) has encouraged corporations to devote more resources and care for the disadvantaged in the society so as to promote social inclusion. To build closer ties with the business world, we have specially prepared Y CARE! – CSR and look forward to working hand in hand with various corporations to serve the community.

    "Realise Love.Realise Dreams" Project

    Date: April 2014
Since the launch of "Realise Love.Realise Dreams" Project, the Association has proactively reached out to many corporations in an attempt to gather resources from the community to help the ones in need. Under the support of the Glorious Sun Group, the Association has recently helped grandmother Chan, who is over 80 years old living alone, to resolve some of her difficulties in life. Suffering from chronic limb disease and skin ulcers, grandmother Chan needs regular visits to the clinic and wound-cleaning services. However, the hotness and mugginess of spring and summer have caused suffering to her. So it has been her wish to install a dehumidifying air-conditioner in her apartment. Thanks to the recommendation of her social worker, her application to "Realise Love.Realise Dream" Project has been accepted, and an air-conditioner was installed in April. Her pain can finally be alleviated.

    Giormani Parental Bonding Workshop

    Date: 3rd and 10th May 2014
As a supporter of creative original designs and family well-being, Giormani often co-organises creative parental bonding workshops with the Association with the goal of promoting harmonious family. Two family workshops were held at our Kornhill centre separately on 3rd and 10th May, which aimed at fostering a better parent-child relationship and stimulating the creativity of the new generation.

    Corporate Volunteers Visiting the Elderly

    Date: 23rd May 2014
With festive presents such as healthy rice dumplings and tea bags, 34 volunteers from Hewlett-Packard Hong Kong visited 24 elderly people, who are living alone in the Chai Wan Estate and the Wan Tsui Estate. Their aim was to send love and care to the elderly during the festive season. Prior to the home visit, the social worker of the Chai Wan Neighbourhood Elderly Centre provided training to the corporate volunteers so as to increase their understanding of the elderly and enhance their interpersonal skills, helping them to communicate with the elderly.
