By working with business through various channels over the years, Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) has encouraged corporations to devote more resources and care for the disadvantaged in the society so as to promote social inclusion. Date: 14 Dec 2014
With the aim of raising social concerns for the living standards of the low strata, the Association launched the "Love Feast" under the "Realise Love, Realise Dreams" programme on 14 Dec 2014. With the supports from Coca-Cola and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, volunteers were invited to personally experience living in Sham Shui Po together with local residents. All participants were divided into groups and were sent to the local markets to shop for ingredients with a very limited budget (only $10 per person). Afterwards, they were asked to prepare a lunch at the Sham Shui Po homes and later brought the dishes to a nearby football stadium to enjoy the culinary delights together. At the venue, nutritionists taught and shared with the participants how to "eat at low-cost with high nutritional values". The event successfully invited approximately 200 participants. They all gathered to cook a low-cost and hearty lunch filled with love.
