“YM eConnect” Creates Convenience for All

The COVID-19 omicron variant has created another uncertain holiday season for the pandemic-weary citizens of Hong Kong. Once again, various anti-epidemic measures are creating a host of inconveniences in our daily lives. That said, having the luxury of a mobile phone allows us to stay safe while taking care of many tasks remotely and conveniently.

To help make things more convenient for our members, volunteers and service users during this difficult time, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong has launched an online system called “YM eConnect” which allows our members and volunteers to connect with the YMCA without leaving home.

YM eConnect offers a number of powerful features

Join us

Those who have never been the Association members or volunteers can now apply for membership or register as a volunteer by filling out an online form and paying the membership fee electronically through the system.

Membership renewal

Existing members or volunteers, or those who have previously been members of the Association, can set up and register an online account using the system. This account allows you to renew your memberships and take care of some membership- or volunteer-related matters using the system.

Service record access

The system allows registered volunteers who have participated in any Association volunteer service activities will be able to view their service hours, awards received and any events in which they have participated.

Highlights of Our Activities

The Kowloon Centre Sports Trial Day was a success!

On New Year’s Day 2022, our Kowloon Centre held a sports trial day. Participants got to experience a wide variety of sports including walking football, badminton, taspony, floor curling, dodgebee, flyball, sports climbing, Mölkky, and others.

Jointly organised with the Association along with the Island Worship Assembly and the HKCNP, the day also featured health talks, physical examinations and gospel sharing sessions.

To encourage members to keep exercising during the suspension of recreational services and facilities, our Kowloon Centre will also produce a series of home-based sports and hobby teaching videos for the public to enjoy.

Internet Governance Forum webinar

Organised and hosted by the YMCA Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Expansion Group, an IGF webinar called “Technological Assistance Emphasis on Teenagers During the Pandemic – Is it Fair to Distribute Resources in Such a Way?” was held online on 6 December 2021. The workshop allowed people from different countries to understand the current status of digital inclusion in Hong Kong and learn about how the Association has been working to promote digital inclusion during the pandemic.

A video from the webinar can be viewed on the IGF YouTube channel here.
